Panasonic and Sigma rumored to announce new L-mount cameras in the coming weeks

Both Panasonic and Sigma are rumored to announce new L-mount cameras in the coming weeks:

Sigma fp II (L-mount cine compact)

  • 24MP full-frame sensor
  • L-mount
  • Open gate recording
  • Internal RAW
  • Cine-focused
  • Optional EVF
  • Body slightly larger than the fp L
  • Price around $2,500
  • Successor to the fp / fp L series
  • Possible announcement by November, with October 23-24 floated as a candidate (Sigma has product events around then, including a Sigma China special event on October 23):

Sigma has a new product launch event scheduled for October 24th

Sigma is also rumored to announce a new 65mm ultra-fast autofocus lens (faster than f/1.2):

Sigma is rumored to release a new 65mm ultra-fast (faster than f/1.2) autofocus lens in September

Rumored Panasonic Lumix camera

  • Will be announced for Lumix’s 25th anniversary.
  • A new L-mount cine camera is the strongest possibility – either a more traditional S1H-style successor or a boxier, FX5-style cinema body. Another option is something like an S9II or a new Micro Four Thirds camera (GH8 or a more compact GM/GF-style body).
  • Panasonic announced “Lumix Collective” anniversary events starting mid-November (Manchester on the 17th, then other cities), which could give hints about the potential announcement timeline.
