Ricoh registered a new R10010 camera

Ricoh Imaging registered a new digital camera in China with the codename R10010:

The new model is equipped with a tri-band Wi-Fi 6 module: 2.4, 5.1, and 5.8 GHz 1024-QAM, which stands for 10-bit Quadrature Amplitude Modulation, which corresponds to Wi-Fi 6. This is the same Wi-Fi module found in the Ricoh GR IV. The Ricoh GR IVx, which was announced two months ago, is the most obvious candidate:

The DSLR is not dead: Ricoh is developing an entirely new concept for Pentax DSLR cameras

Ricoh announced that it is developing an entirely new concept for Pentax DSLR K-mount cameras – here is a recap of the official announcement:

  • Ricoh Imaging thanks customers for long-term support of its K-mount digital SLRs.
  • Brief history: *ist D (2003) → K100D with in-body sensor-shift SR (2006) → K-1, first full-frame model (2016).
  • The company says it is reexamining “the value of taking photographs” and wants products that let more people enjoy the process of photography, not just the result.
  • A new series of digital SLR cameras is in development, based on an entirely new concept, while still using the K-mount legacy built over more than 50 years.
  • These products will take time; Ricoh will share progress updates when information is ready.
  • Production of the current K-series digital SLRs will be discontinued as part of the transition.
  • Ricoh says it will keep pursuing an SLR-specific shooting style and wants cameras that work for both existing enthusiasts and people just starting out.
  • Positioning: cameras should be more than image-capture tools – they should enrich the experience of photographing.
