After LaCie, OWC, and ProGrade, Lexar is rumored to be the next manufacturer to have a major 25% price increase on memory cards on June 1.

B&H Photo is currently running a sale on select memory cards and SSDs.

Memory card and storage prices (including SD/microSD, CFexpress, and SSDs) are rising sharply in 2026 primarily due to an AI-driven surge in NAND flash demand that has outstripped supply. Hyperscale data centers and AI infrastructure are consuming massive volumes of NAND for high-performance enterprise storage and related components. This has caused NAND wafer and contract prices to jump dramatically (e.g., 70-75% quarter-over-quarter in Q2 2026 projections, with some reports of 100%+ increases earlier in the year), pushing costs downstream to brands like Lexar, LaCie, OWC, and ProGrade:

After ProGrade, OWC also announced a new price increase on memory cards is coming on May 11 (check availability at B&H Photo and Amazon).

At the same time, B&H Photo started a big Lexar memory card sale today (check out this Lexar flash deal as well).

Memory prices are rising sharply due to a global shortage of NAND flash – the key material used in memory cards, SSDs, and similar storage devices. AI data centers are demanding huge amounts of specialized high-speed memory, so major chipmakers like Samsung and SK Hynix have shifted production away from regular consumer flash. This has driven costs up dramatically across the industry and is the main reason companies like ProGrade Digital are increasing prices on memory cards starting May 1st. I am sure other brands will follow.
