At the 2025 CP+ show in Japan, Sigma's President Kazuto Yamaki held a presentation where he confirmed that this year (2025) his company will release a new smaller, lighter, and with improved optical performance 35mm f/1.2 DG DN | Art II lens (E+L mount) that will replace the current version that was released back in 2019:

"On March 1, the third day of CP+2025, Sigma's President Kazuto Yamaki commented at the stage held at the Sigma booth that the company is developing a second version of its wide-angle lens with an aperture of F1.2, the 35mm F1.2 DG DN | Art. The lens will be smaller and lighter than the current model, while also improving its optical performance. It's sure to be a lens of great interest to starry sky photographers." (mynavi)

"This year we will have a variety of lenses, including Art lenses. There are some lenses for which it would be inappropriate to mention the specs, so I will introduce the lenses for which it is okay to mention the specs. We will be releasing the "ART 35mm F1.2 DG II" this year. It has a similar concept to the very compact and high-performance "ART 50mm F1.2 DG DN" lens, but it is much more compact than the current "35mm F1.2" and has much better performance. Of the many Art lenses we will be releasing this year, this is the lens I personally have no qualms about saying, but the marketing people may have a hard time from now on." (dclife).
