SanDisk’s first 8TB SDUC memory cards confirmed: massive storage, but new readers required

SanDisk’s first 8TB SDUC memory cards are coming soon, here are the latest details (see current SanDisk offerings):

SanDisk is moving forward with its long-awaited high-capacity SDUC memory cards. After an initial 2024 announcement and a delay from the originally planned 2025 launch, new details emerged last month at Computex 2026 confirming that 8TB full-size SDUC and 4TB microSDUC cards are on track to ship shortly.

Coming soon: world’s first SanDisk 4TB microSD and 8TB SD memory cards

What We Know About the Cards

SanDisk plans to launch these under its Ultra lineup (with some Extreme Pro variants also referenced):

  • 8TB SDUC (full-size SD card)
  • 4TB microSDUC

Both are UHS-I cards with a theoretical maximum transfer speed of around 104 MB/s. The Ultra models carry V10 and A1 ratings (minimum sustained write speed of 10 MB/s). An Extreme Pro 4TB SDUC version is also expected with a higher V30 rating.
These cards fall under the SDUC (Secure Digital Ultra Capacity) standard, which covers capacities from just over 2TB up to a theoretical 128TB and uses the exFAT file system (like current SDXC cards).

The Major Compatibility Issue

Here’s the big caveat – these cards are not backward compatible with existing SDXC readers or devices.

  • Current SDXC card readers (even those supporting the highest current capacities up to 2TB) will not work with SDUC cards.
  • Even brand-new SD Express readers cannot handle SDUC at this point.
  • No consumer or professional cameras, computers, or devices currently on the market support SDUC cards.

New multi-standard readers that combine UHS-II, SD Express, and SDUC support are expected and were reportedly shown at Computex, but they are not yet widely available.

SanDisk has not released official pricing, exact launch dates, or full spec sheets yet.

Insta360 upcoming products: hints from the CEO’s computer

Par : PR admin
3 juillet 2026 à 00:38

The above screenshot of the Insta360 CEO’s computer was taken from a publicly available video post on Chinese social media and contains some hints on upcoming Insta360 products (check also the ongoing Insta360 sale):

  • From the top, the first item is a Luna Ultra firmware
  • Next is “compared OP4.mov”: OP4 here is most likely a comparison with the OSMO Pocket 4
  • Next is “X6 360 pv (X6&001) compressed.mov”: clearly referring to a new X6 product (the next 360 camera model?)
  • Next is a folder named “z0 latest sample for jk (only roughly adjusted exposure and color)”: the rumored mirrorless camera from Insta360 is called Z0 (this is probably a code name, not a final product name)
  • Next is “X6 360 pv (X6&001) .mov.larkcache”, again the X6 (the next 360 camera model)
  • “z03 compared OP4.mov.larkcache”: this seems to be a new product labeled as Z03
  • The last folder is “z0 latest sample for jk” –  z0 again, the rumored Insta360 mirrorless camera

Update – the Insta360 X6 camera is already registered with the FCC:

The rumored Insta360 mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera will have an MFT mount

Is Insta360 coming up with a new mirrorless camera?
