Yes, Panasonic increased prices in the US as previously reported, and OM System is next

2 octobre 2025 à 19:02

In September, I reported on the upcoming price increases for OM System and Panasonic products, and it appears that the rumors were true again (see previous reports). I have a hard time finding exactly what products were impacted and by how much, but here is the AI recap (check the Panasonic Lumix and OM System stores):

“Panasonic implemented a price increase for Lumix cameras and lenses in the US on September 28, 2025, primarily in response to escalating tariffs on imports from China and other affected regions (where much of their manufacturing occurs). This follows similar hikes by competitors like Canon, Sony, Nikon, and Fujifilm earlier in the year. The adjustment aims to offset costs while keeping the overall impact below 1% on profits, according to Panasonic’s fiscal reports. Specific percentage increases vary by product (typically 5-15% based on prior tariff-related adjustments), but exact figures for this round have not been publicly detailed beyond announcements urging pre-hike purchases. The increase applies broadly to the Lumix lineup, including full-frame S-series, Micro Four Thirds G-series, and compact models.”

It seems that Panasonic will also announce a new Lumix S camera next week (L-mount)

A further investigation of the blurred camera posted on a German Davison YouTube channel (previously posted here) suggests that this could be a new Panasonic Lumix S camera. If you consider the character count (5) and the shape of the first letter (L), my assumption is that the camera’s label says Lumix:

For reference, here is the top part of a Panasonic Lumix S camera:

The Sony logo is 4 letters, and the DJI logo is 3 letters – clearly none of those brands. Also, it’s not a Panasonic MFT model – they have a smaller and a different-shaped EVF bump. Davison confirmed in video comments and follow-ups that it’s not a Canon product (ruling out rumors of a Canon EOS C50).

Nikon and Canon will never allow anyone to post a blurred image of their upcoming camera. Panasoinic has been much “looser” with their influencers, allowing them on many occasions to post blurred pictures/videos of upcoming new products.

What do you think?

Also, at one point in the video, we see a Viltrox PL-L adapter that further confirms a new L-mount Panasonic Lumix S camera:

What camera is that?

OM System and Panasonic Lumix price increases coming to the US, while new Sofortrabatt & Cashback programs started in Europe

New OM System and Panasonic Lumix price increases are coming to the US as a result of the Trump’s tariffs:

  • OM System price increase coming in early October
  • Panasonic Lumix price increase coming on September 28th

If you are planning on purchasing new gear, now would be a good time to do so, since I expect more price increases to be coming in the coming weeks/months:

At the same time, new Sofortrabatt & Cashback programs are starting in Europe (no OM System and Panasonic Lumix rebates available in the US):
