Don’t expect the Fujifilm X100VI camera to be in stock anytime soon

Par : PR admin
7 mars 2024 à 20:08

Many (all?) companies got into the habit of announcing product shortages "becuase of high demand". For the most part, I consider this to be a marketing strategy, but in the case of the new Fujifilm X100VI camera, I believe the hype is real after getting some feedback from retailers - the X100VI demand is very high and it exceeded all expectations. Today FujiFilm Japan issued an official notice about it:

"Please note that since the announcement, we have received a far greater response than expected, so please note that it may take some time for the product to be delivered. We will do our best to increase production so that we can deliver the products as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding."

All Ricoh GR cameras are out of stock, temporary suspension of orders, new model coming?

Par : PR admin
9 mars 2024 à 02:55

A few months ago a Ricoh GR designer teased a new GR announcement. We have not seen any new GR-related developments since. There was no news even at the CP+ show in Japan last month. Ricoh Japan now announced a new temporary suspension of GR camera orders because of supply shortages (again). Here are the impacted models:

A quick check online shows that most Ricoh GR camera models are out of stock or back-ordered (with the exceptions of WEX in the UK):

Maybe Ricoh is clearing their inventory before they announce a new GR model?

10 mars 2024 à 19:01

As previously reported. Canon is pushing 3D and  XR (VR/AR/MR) imaging again and is planning to release a new APS-C camera compatible with VR lenses according to an article published recently by Newswitch.

Canon currently has the $2,000 RF 5.2mm f/2.8 L Dual Fisheye 3D VR full-frame lens (Adorama | Amazon | B&H):

Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8 L dual fisheye lens officially announced

Here is the recap of the article by digicame-info:

  • Canon will expand the range of digital camera models that are compatible with the EOS VR SYSTEM. Previously, three models were compatible, but there are plans to also include cameras equipped with APS-C size sensors, which are smaller than full-frame sensors. The company aims to expand its user base by making low-priced cameras compatible with the system. Tsuyoshi Tokura, senior managing executive officer, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, ``We want to be able to offer multiple options.''
  • A special lens is required to support this system. We plan to release a special lens that can be attached to cameras equipped with APS-C size sensors. Although the specific release date has not been disclosed, ``There is a possibility that it will be released in 2024'' (Senior Managing Executive Officer Togura).
  • In addition to cameras, Canon is also focusing on the XR (general term for VR, augmented reality (AR), etc.) field. Senior Managing Executive Officer Tokura says, ``XR is the direction in which imaging will move,'' and the company plans to strengthen its research and development with an eye to the future.

Additional information on the Canon EOS VR System can be found here.

Additional information on the upcoming Rollei 35AF camera from Mint

Par : PR admin
12 mars 2024 à 01:49

Additional information on the upcoming Rollei 35AF camera from Mint:

  • What does it shoot on: 35mm film.
  • Is the camera full-frame or half-frame: Rollei 35AF is a full-frame film camera.
  • What are the available aperture options: f/2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11 and 16.
  • What is the lens of the NEW Rollei 35AF camera: We went all-in on the lens this time. The lens on the Rollei 35AF is a 5-element all glass lens with coatings on every side.
  • What's the focal length of the lens: The focal length of the lens is 35mm, (arguably) the most popular choice among street photographers.
  • What material is used for the camera body: It's got a metal body. Some people might assume that since Mint has never produced any cameras with a full metal body, this one must also be non-metallic. However, that's not the case. The reason we haven't made a full metal instant camera before is due to its weight and size. Instant cameras need to be larger to accommodate the print size. If we made it entirely out of metal, I'm sure it would be so heavy nobody took it out and used it.
  • Will there be a Mint version of the camera: This camera will be exclusively Rollei.
  • What will be the price of this camera: 650-800USD.
